The New Development Policy Priorities of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, which were adopted by the cabinet in December 2019, confirm that North Rhine-Westphalia works with its international partners in this spirit. The guiding principles of North Rhine-Westphalia's development policy are subsidiarity and self-determination.

In Saxony-Anhalt, statewide coordination of development cooperation takes place in the Ministry of Economics, Science and Digitalization (MW).
